Average review score:

Entertaining ride down the Mississippi
If you can't go down the Mississippi yourself, tag along with Knudsen! Meet the "river rats," see the sights, and even smell life on the river as Knudsen found it in 1993. I found this book to be entertaining AND educational. I hope Knudsen has other trips planned so I can journey along with him again.

Rural Life in the Midwest
This book is a delightful autobiography of a lady who was born in rural Illinois nearly 80 years ago. Throughout her very active life, she has been a farmer's daughter, teacher, farm wife, special education instructor (with a master's degree), and ordained minister. These varied occupations have led to a host of life experiences which she shares with the reader. It is very entertaining, and for most of us who have not lived on a farm or in a rural setting, it gives great insight as to that kind of life-style.
The author's writing style is like an interesting story-teller around a camp-fire; it keeps you wanting to turn the page and find out more adventures of this intriguing lady and her family.

A Visit to St. Louis
This book is for anyone who is living in or visiting the St. Louis area. It is like a guided tour without even being there. The book is very well organized, with loads of personal anecdotes that make the reader feel like he or she is visitng the area with someone. You really get a feel for the diversity and culture of the area. Information is clear, directions help with planning, and the reader will be prepared for all that St. Louis has to offer. Absolutely awesome!!
Being born much too late to witness the glory years of the railroad, I love books which show what the good old days looked like. Some of the scenes in the book are familar to me, and that also adds to the book's appeal. This book shows both the machines and the people affiliated with the railraod. Highly recommended.

I have been looking for a book like this. Me and my wife Bee have been trying to plant flowers, but often get stuff that will not grow in our area. Then Bee makes me sleep in the shed.

Perennials for Illinois
Published in Paperback by Lone Pine Publishing (February, 2003)
Authors: Bill Aldrich, Don Williamson, and Diane Chaddock
Average review score:

Outstanding photos and plant information
I picked up a copy of this book at Chicago Flower and Garden show recently, and found it written to reach not only the master gardener, but also the novice or inspired homeowner wishing to fill their gardens with perennials native to the area. The photos are clear and precise, making identification easy for the untrained eye.

The book provides accurate information for growing conditions in Illinois. I will recommend this book to my college interns and fellow members of several garden clubs as well as homeowners I design perennial gardens for.

Highly recommended.

This is a reference book which delivers what it says it will
If you're doing genealogy work in Nebraska then you'll find this book invaluable. There were so many settlements during pioneer days which no longer exist, or worse that have changed their names. This book will be a life-saver because it has it all! I keep thinking that I'll finally find some reference in a family history which the book won't have, but it hasn't happened yet! This is a reference book which so far has been 100% complete.
